Petersfield Town Council pledge to provide all participating schools with FREE sunflower seeds.
We invite local schools to email events@petersfield-tc.gov.uk to express their interest.
Sow your Sunflower seeds.
Sell your seedling plants to your friends and family and donate the proceeds to the Ukraine appeal.
Come Summer we can all show our support and solidarity with Ukraine with Sunflowers, and our garden visitors will enjoy them too!
A: When they are starting to outgrow the pot.
A: Online disasters emergency committee (DEC). Don't forget to inform your school how much you have pledged!
A: We hope to get a grand total together for the start of June, when we will then like to award a certificate to each school that participates. By all means shout about your schools achievements on your own websites too!
A All donations can be made in private and if all a child can do is to grow a sunflower that feeds birds and pollinators, and possibly lifts the spirits of those who see it, then we will gladly take that contribution in the true spirit of kindness.
Once you have agreed to take part in this project we would ask that you keep a log of how much money you have managed to raise as a school and report back to us!
Radio Shine would like to interview a school and some children who are involved so if your school would like to do this then please contact Cllr Paul Milner on 07785970219.
Year 6 teamed up with reception to plant 900 sunflowers seeds and they were sold at the end of the last week of term. The aim was to buy as many as you could for our “whose sunflower can grow the tallest competition” Those not sold were planted on the school site so we can sell bunches of sunflowers at the end of the summer term.
The parents and children contributed to our Ukraine collection. Year 6 sorted all the items into boxes to make recording the items easier and then the items were delivered to a depot in the first week of the Easter Holidays.
Container: We currently have taken delivery of a container on site to collect items for dispersal to both Ukraine and refugees. More details to follow on social media soon!
Peace of Cake Fundraiser: We were so proud of our Year 6 children and families who worked together to enable us to raise just over £700 for the British Red Cross at the cake sale and would like to thank the generosity of everyone involved! It showed the children what could be achieved by working together.
Badges: Peter designed and sold badges to further raise funds.
Our School Council, Eco Committee and year 6’s have just had their plant sale here and have raised £34. We combined it with a general plant sale which was due to share it’s funds jointly between the school and the DEC (via your efforts) but some of our children have said that they want all of the money to go to help the people of Ukraine.
Sheet Primary School have so far raised a total of £176 for the DEC Ukraine Appeal through the Three Seeds Project.
One of our pupils grew and sold over 40 sunflower plants!
Extra seeds were planted in the school grounds and at Petersfield Community Garden.
It’s been a really lovely project to take part in, thank you.
Sunflowers, the national flower of Ukraine, have emerged as a worldwide symbol of solidarity for the country and one of resistance for its people since Russia’s military invasion.
