A heartfelt thank you from Steep House Nursing Home following recent community triumph!

Town Mayor, Cllr JC Crissey with Head Gardener/Maintenance, Martyn Ball

We recently received the following message from the staff and residents at Steep House Nursing Home, who won Gold in three categories at this year’s Petersfield in Bloom Competition.  We thought we would share their words with you:

Since winning first prize in all three categories we entered in this year's Petersfield in Bloom Competition, we just wanted to say how incredibly proud we are of our achievements and express our gratitude to Petersfield Town Council for organising this wonderful initiative.
The Petersfield in Bloom competition has not only brought beauty to our community but has also had a profound impact on the health and well-being of our residents. Engaging in gardening activities provides significant physical and mental health benefits, and initiatives like this play a crucial role in enhancing the lives of those at Steep House.
This year, our garden has been transformed into a spectacular showcase, starting with the impressive D-Day themed display. Our dedicated maintenance team, Martyn and Dave, put in a tremendous effort to create a striking floral arrangement on a landing craft, commemorating the 80th anniversary of D-Day. This display has not only captured the spirit of remembrance but has also provided a space for reflection and conversation among our residents.

Additionally, our sensory/memorial garden has garnered praise for its unusual display, featuring soothing wind chimes, a calming water feature, and a vibrant selection of flowers and herbs. This garden was thoughtfully designed to provide a peaceful and engaging environment for our residents, offering a place where they can connect with nature, stimulate their senses, and find tranquility.

We were also recognised for our care home garden, which celebrates the dedication and creativity that have gone into making our outdoor spaces both beautiful and meaningful. These gardens are more than just spaces; they are sanctuaries where our residents can enjoy the therapeutic benefits of gardening, from the physical activity of tending to plants to the mental calmness that comes from being surrounded by nature.

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Martyn, Dave, Paul and everyone else who contributed to our garden's success. Your hard work and commitment have truly paid off, and we are incredibly proud of the recognition we've received. Congratulations to our amazing team for their outstanding achievements!

Once again, we express our deepest gratitude to Petersfield Town Council for their continued support of the Petersfield in Bloom initiative. Your efforts have made a lasting difference in the lives of our residents, and we look forward to participating in this wonderful event for many years to come.

We look forward to welcoming back Steep House Nursing Home, along with all other entrants to our Petersfield in Bloom awards evening on Thursday 3 October.  Trophies and certificates will be presented by the Town Mayor.
