Petersfield Town Council has made remarkable strides in transforming the town’s landscape with ambitious and community-focused planting projects.
A standout success was the Bell Hill phase one and two Corporate and Community Planting Days, where the Tree Council’s Corporate Partners, tree wardens, volunteers and Petersfield community members came together to plant an extraordinary 986 trees and hedgerow whips. Equally inspiring was the Town Council Front Garden Tree Planting Initiative, which saw enthusiastic engagement from residents, resulting in an impressive 97 applications for new trees. These tree were distributed during PeCAN Festival of Trees event, a fantastic community event filled with interactive activities, demonstrations, and a wonderful variety of informative stalls.Â
These achievements have been made possible through a spirit of collaboration and partnership. Hampshire Forest Partnership and The Tree Council played crucial roles, offering invaluable expertise and providing essential resources, such as the trees and hedging that now grace Petersfield. The support of Petersfield Tree Wardens has also been pivotal; their tireless work in distributing leaflets, engaging with residents, and addressing questions ensured the smooth running of the Front Garden Initiative. We would also like to extend our gratitude to PeCAN for organising such a fantastic event, the Community Garden for providing a beautiful space to host it, and all the stallholders, volunteers, and attendees who made the Festival of Trees so memorable. Your enthusiasm and support make a real difference in our town.
This collective effort exemplifies Petersfield Town Council’s unwavering commitment to nature recovery, biodiversity, and climate action. By planting trees, the Council is enhancing local ecosystems and supporting carbon capture. The result is a greener, more vibrant Petersfield—one where community spirit and environmental stewardship go hand in hand.
These planting initiatives are more than just milestones; they are part of a long-term vision to nurture a resilient and sustainable town.
