PETERSFIELD WILL REMEMBER

Order of Service

This year, Remembrance Sunday falls on November 14th and will once again be an opportunity for the people of Petersfield to say a heartfelt thanks to those who made the ultimate sacrifice. An assembly of uniformed organisations will gather at Swan Street Car Park at 09:45am ready to march to the square at 10:10 with the open-air service beginning approximately 10 minutes later. The parade will include the Petersfield Branch of the Royal British Legion, the Combined Cadet Forces of Churchers College and The Petersfield School, The Petersfield Air Training Corps, Members of the local Scouts and Guides and other organizations. On completion of the open-air service in the Square, the parade will proceed to the War Memorial in the High Street where there will be the sounding of the last post, the two minutes’ silence, the laying of wreaths and the roll of honor listing all those from Petersfield who have died in wars since 1914 will be read out.

Petersfield Town Council (PTC), with the support of the Petersfield Branch of the Royal British Legion and Churcher’s College, are planning a single event which will incorporate 4 occasions which are notable this year. This event is due to take place from 10:45 on the 11th November through until 11:45 and will take place at the War Memorial as per the normal Armistice Day services and then at the Town Hall. This is not considered a major public event and would ask for those who are not involved to view from a safe distance should they wish to do so. We may be dependent on any national restrictions on gatherings so it may be that PTC will need to reduce the attendance and activities as required thus negating any further postponement. In addition, we would not wish to overshadow the Town’s signature Annual Event of Remembrance Sunday.

Help for Heroes and many of its corporate partners are amongst the 1,500 organisations that have signed the Armed Forces Covenant.   Find out what this pledge is all about here:

  1. My partner is an army veteran, can he parade at the petersfield parade? If yes, please advise how and what to do henceforth to enable this.
